Statement from the Board of Trustees
After five successful years at the Criminal Justice Alliance, Nina Champion has stepped down as Director, effective 30 September 2023. Nina will be taking some time out before pursuing other opportunities.
The Board would like to thank Nina for her creativity, enthusiasm, hard work, and commitment to the CJA over the last five years. She has made a considerable contribution and positive impact on the charity and our stakeholders towards achieving our vision and mission. We wish her every success in the future.
My career has involved working across the criminal justice system, so it has been a privilege to look at the bigger picture and explore new ways to bring about the positive, systemic changes we all want to see.
I would like to thank all the incredible people I have met over the past five years including expert CJA members; dedicated staff, interns and trustees (past and present); inspiring ELEVATE CJS leaders and facilitators; those shortlisted for CJA Awards; and loyal funders. As a first time Director, I would also like to thank to my coach and mentor; other CEOs who offered encouragement and advice; and global partners who inspired me to reimagine our criminal justice system and how we achieve it.
I will be taking a career break to spend some time focusing on myself and my family, before pursuing new opportunities to continue contributing to this vital work. I am immensely proud of what the CJA has achieved to date and am excited to see what the next phase will bring.’

Following discussion between the Chair and Board of Trustees, it has been agreed that Deputy Director Annette So will take on the position of Interim Director to lead the organisation, and continue to work with our members, funders, and stakeholders towards our strategic objectives.
